Environmental and Accessibility Policy

Beeston Musical Theatre Group are committed to provide an informative website that has as little impact to the environment, whilst ensuring that as many people as possible will have access to its content.

To this end, we have already implemented the following, which we aim to maintain...

• Hosting of the site is provided by Memset, who are Carbon Neutral.
  
  
• The website domain name is provided by 1&1, who are the first large web host who relies solely on renewable energy. 1&1 now utilise wind, water and solar power in accordance with the Renewable Energy Certification System (RECS).
  
  
• Page performance is constantly monitored and improved - the less bandwidth (the amount of data transferred from our website server) we use, the smaller our "carbon footprint"
  
  
• Our site is validated by the W3C (The World Wide Web Consortium), who are the main international standards organization for the World Wide Web . This ensures the correct standards are followed and that the site is likely to work successfully in as many different environments as possible.
  
  
• Testing of the site is performed on multiple browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari, Konqueror) and across different operating systems (Windows, OS X, Linux), again, ensuring that the site will work for as many different people as possible.
  

Additionally, work is currently in hand to make the site more accessible to the disabled.
